In 2024, general practices across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) achieved a remarkable milestone, delivering 7,795,049 appointments—a significant increase of nearly 400,000 compared to 2023.
This growth highlights the dedication of GP practices and the evolving ways patients access care. Of these appointments:
- 3.2 million were delivered on the same day—4% more than 2023
- 5.6 million were face-to-face—2% more than last year
- 1.6 million took place over the phone—a 7% increase
- 290,000 were video or online appointments—an impressive 176% rise
- 73,000 were offered through extended access—45% more than in 2023
- 338,000 were PCN (Primary Care Network) appointments—21% more
- 3.3 million appointments were with a GP—3% up on 2023
- 4.3 million were with other practice staff—an 8% increase
This collective effort is a testament to the hard work of all staff in primary care, adapting to patient needs and ensuring timely access to healthcare services.
