We’re delighted to share the latest news from the Leicester Carers Support Service. Our groups, activities, and outreach sessions continue to grow, offering carers across the city new opportunities to connect, learn, and receive support.
What’s New?
From Thursday 4 September 2025, we will launch a new Outreach Service at Merlyn Vaz Health Centre, 1 Spinney Hill Road, Leicester, LE5 3GH. Sessions will run fortnightly from 1–3 pm, providing benefits advice and one-to-one support for carers aged 18 and over.
We look forward to welcoming you — please do come along and say hello.
Ongoing Outreach Services
Our other outreach sessions are now well established:
- Tesco Beaumont Leys Shopping Centre (Community Room): Every Friday, 1–2 pm
- Merridale Health Centre, 5 Fullhurst Avenue, LE3 1BL: Every other Tuesday, 10 am–12 pm. The next date is Tuesday 2 September 2025.
These drop-in sessions are a great chance to meet our team, enjoy a chat over a drink, and learn more about the services available to carers.
Community Events
We’ll be at The Community Hub, 26 Marwood Road, LE4 2ED, on Friday 29 August 2025, 11 am–1 pm. Come along to find out about the wide range of support available from both ourselves and the Hub.
Parent Carer Support Group (SEND)
The 7th meeting of our Parent Carer Support Group for children under 25 (SEND) takes place on Thursday 18 September 2025, 10 am–12 pm, at the Bradbury Centre. All parent carers are welcome.
Have Your Say – Website Co-Production
We’re currently developing our new website and would love your input. What information would you like to see included? This could be something you’ve used before, or something you wished had been available.
Please send your suggestions to carers@ageukleics.org.uk by the end of September 2025. Thank you to everyone who has already shared their ideas.
Carer Learning Sessions
Our 1-hour learning sessions are running both in-person at Clarence House and online via Zoom. These sessions give you the chance to learn something new alongside fellow carers.
We’d love to know what topics you’d like us to cover in future sessions — please get in touch with your suggestions.
Regular Groups and Activities
- Monthly Park Run – now a relaxed one-mile walk
- Neurodiversity Peer Support Group
- Weekly groups online and at Clarence House
These activities are a great way to stay connected and supported in your caring journey.
