Our practice is supporting a local initiative designed to improve access to essential healthcare services within the community. Two free drop in events will be held in Leicester, providing patients and families with the opportunity to access advice, health checks, and vaccinations in a single, convenient setting.

These events are open to all members of the public and do not require a prior appointment. The aim is to make healthcare more accessible, particularly for those who may find it difficult to attend multiple appointments or who have outstanding health queries.

Services available on the day

A range of healthcare services will be available, delivered by qualified professionals. General Practitioners and a midwife will be present on site to offer guidance and support.

Patients will be able to access general health checks and discuss any concerns they may have regarding their wellbeing. In addition, support will be available for expectant parents and families with young children, including advice on pregnancy, infant care, and early development.

The event will also provide access to a comprehensive vaccination programme. This includes RSV and the spring Covid vaccine, alongside routine NHS vaccinations such as Meningitis and MMR. Baby catch up vaccinations will also be offered to ensure children are brought up to date where needed.

Supporting continuity of care

All vaccinations administered during the event will be recorded and shared with the patient’s registered GP practice. This ensures that medical records remain accurate and that continuity of care is maintained across services.

This approach supports local GP surgeries by reducing administrative delays and ensuring that patient information is updated promptly.

Who should attend

These events are particularly beneficial for patients who may have missed routine vaccinations, require reassurance or advice, or wish to address minor health concerns without delay.

Families with young children, expectant parents, and individuals seeking general health guidance are encouraged to attend.

Encouraging community engagement

As a practice, we recognise the importance of community based healthcare initiatives. Events such as these provide an opportunity to engage directly with patients, offer timely support, and promote preventative care.

We encourage patients, families, and colleagues across local practices to share this information and attend where appropriate.
